2026 Presidents Cup Standings: Final Points and Both Teams
The Presidents Cup 2026 standings are now final. Both qualification windows have closed, both captains have made their picks, and all 24 players are locked in for Medinah Country Club from September 24 to 27, 2026. Nothing on either points list can change before the first tee.

Presidents Cup 2026 Standings: U.S. Team
The top six on the U.S. points list earned their places outright. Scottie Scheffler finished with almost double the total of anyone else.

Brandt Snedeker then added six players. Five came from inside the top 13. The sixth did not.

Jackson Koivun is the outlier. The 21 year old turned professional after leaving Auburn and sat 48th on the list. Snedeker went on form and temperament rather than points.
Presidents Cup 2026 Standings: International Team
The International points list runs on world ranking form rather than FedExCup points, so the numbers look nothing like the American column. These six qualified automatically after the TOUR Championship.

Adam Scott makes his 12th appearance and is the most experienced player in the field on either side. Hideki Matsuyama plays his seventh in a row.
Geoff Ogilvy filled the remaining six places. Four came from the next four spots on the list. Two did not.

How the U.S. Points List Worked
The American side runs on FedExCup points, weighted so that recent and bigger events count for more.
- Window: January 1, 2025 through August 23, 2026, closing with the BMW Championship.
- 2025 events: counted at face value.
- 2026 majors and THE PLAYERS: counted double.
- All other 2026 events: counted at one and a half times.
- Eligibility: PGA TOUR members only.
The weighting explains Scheffler’s gap. A strong 2026 major run is worth far more than a steady 2025.
How the International Points List Worked
The International Team Points List is built on the Official World Golf Ranking instead, because its players compete across several tours.
- Window: September 8, 2025 through August 31, 2026, closing with the TOUR Championship.
- Eligibility: players from outside Europe only. Anyone eligible for the European Ryder Cup team is excluded.
- Minimum activity: at least 15 world ranking events inside the window.
- Tiebreakers: total world ranking points from January 1, 2026, then points from THE PLAYERS through the TOUR Championship.
Two different systems for one match is unusual, and it is why you cannot compare a U.S. points total with an International one. They measure different things.
Why LIV Players Are Missing
Neither points list includes LIV Golf members. Selection requires eligibility for PGA TOUR sanctioned events, which suspended LIV players do not hold, so they cannot qualify or be picked.
This costs the International side more than the United States. Geoff Ogilvy confirmed he asked the PGA TOUR to open the competition to all international players and was turned down. Joaquin Niemann and Lucas Herbert are the clearest absentees.
Who Missed Out
Ben Griffin is the notable American absence. He finished eighth on the points list, ahead of five of the six players Snedeker picked, though his form fell away in the second half of the season. Ryan Gerard, third at the TOUR Championship, and J.J. Spaun also missed out.
Jason Day is the biggest International omission. He finished 11th on the points list with five Presidents Cups behind him, but a back problem ran through his 2026. Ogilvy said he could not be sure Day would last four days, with the halved match caused by Viktor Hovland’s withdrawal at the 2025 Ryder Cup fresh in mind.
What Happens to the Standings at Medinah
Once play starts, the qualification lists stop mattering and a second set of standings takes over: the match score.
- 30 matches across five sessions, one point each, halves split. Five Thursday, five Friday, eight Saturday, 12 singles Sunday.
- 15.5 points wins the Cup.
- A 15-15 finish means the Cup is shared for the next two years. There is no playoff, and unlike the Ryder Cup the holder does not simply retain it.
- All 12 players on each side must play the Sunday singles.
