2026 Presidents Cup Standings: Final Points and Both Teams
The Presidents Cup 2026 standings are now final. Both qualification windows have closed, both captains have made their picks, and all 24 players are locked in for Medinah Country Club from September 24 to 27, 2026. Nothing on either points list can change before the first tee.
This page shows the final U.S. and International points lists, how each team was built, who missed out and why, and where the two sides sit in the all time record.

Presidents Cup 2026 Standings: U.S. Team
The top six on the U.S. points list earned their places outright. Scottie Scheffler finished with almost double the total of anyone else.
| Rank | Player | Points | World rank |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Scottie Scheffler | 14,749 | 1 |
| 2 | Cameron Young | 7,889 | 3 |
| 3 | Wyndham Clark | 6,221 | 5 |
| 4 | Sam Burns | 6,148 | 9 |
| 5 | Russell Henley | 6,009 | 6 |
| 6 | Collin Morikawa | 5,614 | 11 |
Brandt Snedeker then added six players. Five came from inside the top 13. The sixth did not.
| Captain’s pick | Points rank | World rank | Cup record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chris Gotterup | 7 | 7 | Debut |
| Xander Schauffele | 9 | 10 | 10-4-0 |
| Justin Thomas | 11 | 21 | 10-3-2 |
| Jacob Bridgeman | 12 | 28 | Debut |
| Patrick Cantlay | 13 | 27 | 10-4-0 |
| Jackson Koivun | 48 | 66 | Debut |
Jackson Koivun is the outlier. The 21 year old turned professional after leaving Auburn and sat 48th on the list. Snedeker went on form and temperament rather than points.
Presidents Cup 2026 Standings: International Team
The International points list runs on world ranking form rather than FedExCup points, so the numbers look nothing like the American column. These six qualified automatically after the TOUR Championship.
| Player | Country | World rank | Cup record |
|---|---|---|---|
| Si Woo Kim | South Korea | 13 | 6-5-0 |
| Ryan Fox | New Zealand | 25 | Debut |
| Hideki Matsuyama | Japan | 26 | 9-13-5 |
| Min Woo Lee | Australia | 29 | 1-1-0 |
| Tom Kim | South Korea | 30 | 3-5-1 |
| Adam Scott | Australia | 51 | 20-28-6 |
Adam Scott makes his 12th appearance and is the most experienced player in the field on either side. Hideki Matsuyama plays his seventh in a row.
Geoff Ogilvy filled the remaining six places. Four came from the next four spots on the list. Two did not.
| Captain’s pick | Country | Points rank | World rank | Cup record |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Corey Conners | Canada | 7 | 54 | 2-7-0 |
| Nico Echavarria | Colombia | 8 | 56 | Debut |
| Sungjae Im | South Korea | 9 | 57 | 6-7-2 |
| Ryo Hisatsune | Japan | 10 | 65 | Debut |
| Nick Taylor | Canada | 13 | 80 | Debut |
| Christiaan Bezuidenhout | South Africa | 18 | 96 | 3-1-1 |
Bezuidenhout at 18th was the surprise. His 3-1-1 record is the best winning rate among the returning International players, which is the argument Ogilvy leaned on. Full player profiles sit on our Presidents Cup team page.
How the U.S. Points List Worked
The American side runs on FedExCup points, weighted so that recent and bigger events count for more.
- Window: January 1, 2025 through August 23, 2026, closing with the BMW Championship.
- 2025 events: counted at face value.
- 2026 majors and THE PLAYERS: counted double.
- All other 2026 events: counted at one and a half times.
- Eligibility: PGA TOUR members only.
The weighting explains Scheffler’s gap. A strong 2026 major run is worth far more than a steady 2025.
How the International Points List Worked
The International Team Points List is built on the Official World Golf Ranking instead, because its players compete across several tours.
- Window: September 8, 2025 through August 31, 2026, closing with the TOUR Championship.
- Eligibility: players from outside Europe only. Anyone eligible for the European Ryder Cup team is excluded.
- Minimum activity: at least 15 world ranking events inside the window.
- Tiebreakers: total world ranking points from January 1, 2026, then points from THE PLAYERS through the TOUR Championship.
Two different systems for one match is unusual, and it is why you cannot compare a U.S. points total with an International one. They measure different things.
Why LIV Players Are Missing
Neither points list includes LIV Golf members. Selection requires eligibility for PGA TOUR sanctioned events, which suspended LIV players do not hold, so they cannot qualify or be picked.
This costs the International side more than the United States. Geoff Ogilvy confirmed he asked the PGA TOUR to open the competition to all international players and was turned down. Joaquin Niemann and Lucas Herbert are the clearest absentees.
Who Missed Out
Ben Griffin is the notable American absence. He finished eighth on the points list, ahead of five of the six players Snedeker picked, though his form fell away in the second half of the season. Ryan Gerard, third at the TOUR Championship, and J.J. Spaun also missed out.
Jason Day is the biggest International omission. He finished 11th on the points list with five Presidents Cups behind him, but a back problem ran through his 2026. Ogilvy said he could not be sure Day would last four days, with the halved match caused by Viktor Hovland’s withdrawal at the 2025 Ryder Cup fresh in mind.
What Happens to the Standings at Medinah
Once play starts, the qualification lists stop mattering and a second set of standings takes over: the match score.
- 30 matches across five sessions, one point each, halves split. Five Thursday, five Friday, eight Saturday, 12 singles Sunday.
- 15.5 points wins the Cup.
- A 15-15 finish means the Cup is shared for the next two years. There is no playoff, and unlike the Ryder Cup the holder does not simply retain it.
- All 12 players on each side must play the Sunday singles.
Session times are on our 2026 Presidents Cup schedule, and the scoring rules are explained in full on our Presidents Cup format guide.
All Time Presidents Cup Standings
Fifteen editions have been played since 1994. The overall record is lopsided.
| Result | Total | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| United States wins | 13 | Including the last 10 in a row, from 2005 |
| International wins | 1 | 1998, Royal Melbourne, 20.5 to 11.5 |
| Tied | 1 | 2003, Fancourt, 17 to 17 |
| Last edition | 2024 | United States 18.5, International 11.5, Royal Montreal |
| Closest finish | 2015 | United States 15.5, International 14.5, Incheon |
Medinah is a home course for the United States, and the Americans have never lost a Presidents Cup on home soil in eight attempts.
Presidents Cup 2026 Standings FAQ
Are the Presidents Cup 2026 standings final?
Yes. U.S. qualifying closed on August 23, 2026 after the BMW Championship and International qualifying closed on August 31 after the TOUR Championship. Both captains named their six picks on September 1, so all 24 players are set.
Who topped the U.S. points list for 2026?
Scottie Scheffler, with 14,749 points. Cameron Young was second on 7,889, followed by Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa.
Who qualified automatically for the International Team?
Si Woo Kim, Hideki Matsuyama, Ryan Fox, Tom Kim, Min Woo Lee and Adam Scott took the six automatic places off the International Team Points List.
How do Presidents Cup points work?
The two teams use different systems. The U.S. list uses FedExCup points from January 2025 to August 2026, with 2026 majors and THE PLAYERS counted double and other 2026 events at one and a half times. The International list uses Official World Golf Ranking form over the same period.
Why are European and LIV players not in the standings?
The International Team is drawn from players outside Europe, so anyone eligible for the European Ryder Cup team is excluded. LIV Golf members are also out, because selection requires eligibility for PGA TOUR sanctioned events. That rules out Joaquin Niemann and Lucas Herbert.
Why was Jason Day not picked for 2026?
Day finished 11th on the International points list but carried a back problem through 2026. Geoff Ogilvy said he could not guarantee Day would get through four days, and wanted to avoid a repeat of the halved match that followed Viktor Hovland’s withdrawal at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
Who leads the all time Presidents Cup standings?
The United States, with 13 wins to one for the International Team and one tie from 15 editions. The International side has won once, at Royal Melbourne in 1998, and the United States has won the last 10 in a row.
How many points are needed to win in 2026?
15.5 points from the 30 matches. If the score reaches 15-15 the Cup is shared for the next two years, with no playoff and no automatic retention for the holder.
The Presidents Cup 2026 standings are settled, and the shape of the week is already clear from them. The United States brings the deeper points list and a stacked top six. The International side counters with experience in Adam Scott and Matsuyama and the better match records in several of its picks.
From here the only numbers that move are match points. If you are heading to Medinah, start with Presidents Cup tickets and the daily gate times.
